FAQs

How is LifeSource different from other funeral homes?
We’re out to rewrite how society approaches life’s final chapter—transforming it into something more meaningful, more personal, and more connected to the world around us. Rooted in a deep respect for nature and individuality, we offer sustainable end-of-life options that honor your story while gently giving back to the earth.
Are these options environmentally friendly?
Yes, all our deathcare services offer an opportunity for you to return to the earth as naturally as possible and nourish new life. We offset our emissions by planting trees, we use chemical-free preservation methods for viewings, and offer only natural, biodegradable caskets and shrouds that return to nature with you. Terramation is the most sustainable form of disposition offered by LifeSource, and completely transforms you into a regenerative, life-sustaining soil product – compost.
Can I preplan my funeral?
Absolutely. Pre-planning ensures your wishes are honored, reduces stress for loved ones, and provides peace of mind.
What support do you offer grieving families?
Need text...We understand everybody grieves differently. LifeSource can help you find the support that is right for you. LifeSource can connect you or your loved ones with a Death Doulas to help you practically and emotionally prepare for your end-of-life.

For those looking to slow down and connect with their physical bodies, LifeSource offers weekly grief yoga through our partnership with Death Doula LA. We can also help connect you with mental health professionals, wellness providers, and spiritual and religious leaders to help you through your grief journey.
What is a death doula?
Death Doulas provide non-medical, holistic support for the emotional, spiritual, and practical needs of dying people and their loved ones. Death Doulas advocates for you and can help you navigate your end-of-life journey to ensure your wishes are honored and upheld. They can also provide support to your loved ones in the initial weeks after a death.
What is grief yoga?
Grief manifests itself physically in our bodies. Grief yoga provides a safe and supportive space for individuals to process their emotions and experiences. It aims to help individuals become aware of where they hold pain and struggle in their body and mind, and then use movement, breath, and sound to express and release those emotions. This deeply meditative and grounding yin-style yoga class is accessible to all ages and bodies.
Are there religious or cultural options available?
We embrace all faiths and cultural backgrounds, and you’re welcome to incorporate any traditions or religious practices that are important to you. We’re here to support diverse needs and can work with leaders of various faiths to ensure the ceremony honors your loved one’s beliefs and values.
What is embalming, and is it required?
Embalming is the chemical preservation of the body to drastically slow down decomposition. Traditionally, and most frequently, a formaldehyde-based chemical is used, but less toxic “green” chemicals are now available.

Embalming is never required – even for visitations or open-casket funerals. We offer minimally invasive and non-chemical methods of preparation for you or your loved one.
When do you embalm?
Embalming is required when shipping into certain states or out of the country. We might also recommend embalming to repair severe bodily damage, which can help make repairs easier and more aesthetic.

Its never too early to think about
a meaningful goodbye.

Consider how pre-planning your funeral can take the financial and emotional burden off friends and family with affordable payment plans.
