While there is no truly universal definition of a natural burial, there are basic standards that must be followed. Natural or Green Burials must performed without embalming, or the use of a cement or plastic liner or vaults, treated and exotic wood or metal caskets.
Everything used in a natural burial must be able to decompose and return to the earth. We use shrouds or caskets make from natural materials like woven grasses, bamboo fibers, muslin cloth, or untreated soft woods. Nothing should be separating the dirt from the shrouded or casketed person.
